Barton Creek was recently recognized as “One f World’s 9 Most Beautiful And Unusual Cave Destinations” by Mother Nature Network.
This cave was considered the “underworld” by the ancient Maya who inhabited the area and was used as a burial place. Human remains can still be found inside the cave.

After a drive of 40 minutes you will reach the entrance of the cave. Your scenic nature and jungle drive leads you through Mennonite farm country and you will have to drive through a shallow creek to reach your destination. You will enter the cave with your tour guide in a canoe and will be impressed immediately by the cathedral-like chambers. Numerous formations of stalactites and stalagmites can be seen left and right. The cave is mostly a giant cavern and was was used once bay the Maya for ceremonial purposes and human scarifies. It is one of the largest river caves in Belize and during your tour you will explore 1 mi. of the massive 4.5 mi. long cave which is yet to be discovered.

Although there is no need to get wet during this tour, we recommend to take your swim suit and take the chance to refresh yourself in the creek.

This tours takes about 6 hours and is perfect to combine with the Zip Lining at Callico Jack to make it a full day tour.
