Description

Caracol is a breathtaking ancient Maya archaeological site located in the dense Chiquibul Forest of Belize.

Known for its impressive pyramids, intricate carvings, and expansive plazas, it once served as one of the most powerful Maya city-states, flourishing between 600 and 900 CE.

Visitors can explore the towering Caana (“Sky Palace”), which remains one of the tallest man-made structures in Belize, and marvel at the site’s rich history and natural beauty. Surrounded by vibrant jungle, Caracol offers a unique experience for history enthusiasts, nature lovers, and adventurers alike. This hidden gem is a testament to the ingenuity and artistry of the ancient Maya civilization.

On the way back to Vanilla Hills Resort, you will stop at the Rio Frio Cave and at the Rio On Pools waterfalls where you will have the chance to take a refreshing swim.
Road conditions depending a hike to the Big Rock waterfall will be possible.
