Che Chem Ha Cave

Discovered deep within the lush jungle of the Cayo District, Chechem Ha Cave is a fascinating underground river cave system that offers guests a mix of exploration, history, and adventure.

Your tour begins with pickup from Vanilla Hills Resort, followed by a short scenic drive to the cave entrance. After a brief walk through tropical forest, you’ll arrive at the mouth of the cave, where your guides will provide safety equipment including helmets and headlamps.

Inside, the cave features a combination of wading, swimming, and walking along natural rock formations and underground pools. The water depth varies from ankle-deep to areas requiring swimming, and the cave floor has some slippery and uneven surfaces, so sturdy footwear is recommended. As you navigate the cave, you’ll see evidence of ancient Maya use, including ceremonial altars and pottery fragments, offering a glimpse into the spiritual significance of the site.

After exploring the cave, guests are led back through the jungle to the transport pickup for the return to Vanilla Hills Resort. The full excursion lasts approximately 3–4 hours, making it an ideal half-day adventure.
